The Personal Construct Education Trust was set up for the benefit of those seeking to undertake PCP education, training and research.

Personal Construct Psychology (PCP), originating in the 1950s, was developed by George A. Kelly, taking the whole person as the subject, rather than some fragment of the person's psychological functioning. Since then, a variety of forms of psychotherapy have been derived from his theory, and there is a substantial evidence base for the effectiveness and value of these approaches with individuals across the age spectrum, couples and families presenting with a wide range of psychological and physical problems. Applications of PCP are by no means limited to the clinical context, and it has been applied successfully, for example, in educational, organisational, and forensic settings, as well as in relation to the arts and politics. However, it remains under-represented in all of these settings.

One of the main purposes of the Trust is to enable students to access to education about PCP and, as a result, to be better equipped to bring it into the various settings in which it can be applied. A further aim is to support the extension of the evidence base for applications of PCP.
